Pilot Skills Challenge

MAY 17, 2008

Mark your calendar for a fun day of skills test at the Ocean Springs Airport (5R2).  First we will have a landing competition where pilots will be scored on their ability to land their aircraft at a specific point on the runway.  Second we will have a “flour bomb” competition where a small flour filled sack will be dropped by the passing aircraft toward a target on the ground.  A passenger “MUST” drop the bomb so you will be required to have a “bombardier” on board!  Our third competition will be a navigation problem where pilots fly to a specific local location and identify a target.  GPS's are prohibited from the navigation challenge with the "honor system" in place.  The 3 scores combine for a total “final” score and the top 3 winners will receive cash awards! The entry fee is $20.  Due to time restraints entries will be limited to a specific number of participants.  Reserve your slot NOW so you won't be stuck on the ground!

Pilots and aircraft must arrive no later than 1100hrs.  A "mandatory" pilot safety briefing will take place at 1130hrs and the competition will began promptly at 1300hrs.  Hotdogs and chips will be available. Please call the Ocean Springs Airport at 228-872-1962 and reserve your slot today.
